What is accreditation?

Accreditation is a status an educational institution receives when it meets or exceeds the standards the granting organization requires. Accreditation usually serves to assure ongoing educational quality through regular assessment and is a way that institutions receive recognition. This recognition lets students know that their diploma or degree conforms to an industry standard and helps employers to evaluate the appropriateness of a job candidate's education as it applies to an open position.
