Teaching Approach

Our Teaching Approach

Over the years, SCIT has developed a teaching approach that we've found inspires our instructors and students to excellence. This teaching approach is built on fundamental concepts that define the responsibility our staff has to every student, and the responsibility each student has to their own educational success:

Opportunity

We strive to give every student in every classroom an equal opportunity to succeed. Everyone is invited to ask questions and participate; the students that seize this opportunity by fully participating in class discussions and projects receive the most benefit from the program.

Learning by Doing

Our programs balance the understanding of academic concepts with the ability to apply those concepts to real world career applications. Concepts are explained in an approachable way in the classroom, and are then cemented through hands on learning in our labs.

Personal Attention

We want every student to solidly grasp the course material and we've found classrooms and labs that provide plenty of time for one on one learning benefit our students most.

Committed to Student Success

It is SCIT's goal to maintain a reputation of academic excellence in the community, demonstrated by the success of our graduates. We encourage our students to achieve and support them as they work towards their career and life goals.

A Disciplined Environment

You might say that SCIT has an “old school” approach to teaching. We expect our students to show up to class and labs on time--ready to learn and work hard. We also expect the same level of commitment from ourselves: instructors start class on time and are well prepared, and student service departments deliver support services in a convenient and effective way.
