Accounting Specialist
The Accounting Specialist program at SCIT is designed to introduce and/or refresh students to the various functions within the accounting profession and the necessary skills used in the modern business workplace by integrating classroom learning models with real-world accounting scenarios through lecture, group discussions and practical hands-on training.
The Accounting courses are structured to develop soft skills needed in analyzing: Objective, Scope, Methodology, and Execution; progressing through the comprehensive accounting cycle.
Accounting Topics and Practice
Manual Accounting & Accounting Principles to include, but not limited to:
- Accounting Rules (GAAP)
- Analyzing Transactions
- Creating/Editing Charts of Accounts
- Journalizing Entries (Double-Entry)
- Posting Ledgers and Sub-Ledgers
- Preparing/Analyzing Financial Statements
- Closing/Adjusting Entries
- Reporting
Tools for Accounting
Utilizing Computerized Accounting to include, but not limited to:
- Company set up
- Payroll
- Account Reconciliation
- A/Receivable & A/Payable
- Inventory
- Sales and Purchases
- Reporting
Accounting courses are offered both day and night. The program length is 7 months
