IT Program at a Glance
SCIT's information technology program trains students to configure, administer and manage IT infrastructures for both small and enterprise level networks. Faculty members of the program bring many years of real-world experience into the classroom to expose student to modern challenges facing the industries IT professionals. The program builds from fundamental computing concepts to advanced network concepts by cementing lecture topics through extensive projects in advanced networking labs.

IT Training Courses
The IT program includes training courses that expose students to various computer networking components found in both home and enterprise-wide networks. Course topics concentrate on data traversal through both LAN and WAN networks between workstations, servers, routers, switches and other components. Students train with Microsoft and Cisco software and equipment due to their wide usage in the information technology field.

Numerous Hands-On Projects and Advanced Networking Labs: "Knowing" is one thing; "Doing" is the real challenge.
The program emphasizes project-focused learning, aiming to provide students with significant computer and network hardware training, Microsoft training, and Cisco training. The concept is to be able to apply theory and build the skills necessary to develop feasible IT solutions for businesses. Students train in SCIT's Computer Networking Lab (netLab) by working on projects that mimic real-world networking scenarios so that they are ready to tackle modern IT challenges facing businesses.

SCIT is a program member of the Microsoft IT Academy Program. Course materials and software include Microsoft courseware, as well as, all the necessary software to train students to configure, administer and manage Microsoft windows based software widely used in the industry. Studying and training with Microsoft software may benefit those wishing to pursue Microsoft certification.

Degree Opportunities
Graduates of the information technology program may be able to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science (BSCS). Courses completed in the information technology program are transferable to the Computer Science program in SCIT's School of Engineering.
More and more companies who hire IT professional are beginning to require degree level studies related to the computer field in addition to IT experience. The Computer Science program builds on the concepts introduced in the Information Technology program by concentrating on data systems. And, since Computer Science courses are offered at night, the program allows students to work during the day so that they may gain experience while pursuing a degree.
