Across SCITs Career Services, we help students in exploring career interests; develop job-search skills, and finding a career in the field of choice. We encourage you to become familiar with the available career assistance.
Although our primary goal is to help you find the job you are looking for, we do not guarantee placement. Your effort and attitude toward finding a job are key elements to achieve your career goals.
A resume draft is prepared from information gathered at orientation. Nearing the program completion, your assigned advisor and you strategize to complete an industry standard resume and job search direction. Job leads, feedback and follow up are exchanged throughout the search process. Throughout the year we host career workshops and career fairs. Workshop topics and dates as well as other career services announcements are posted on the Career Services Bulletin Board. Workshops and event dates are also posted on the online school calendar.
The Next step after identifying career goals is to market yourself to potential employers. A resume is only one piece of the puzzle. Remember, you are not the only person searching for a job, you have competition out there. Ambition, motivation and the right attitude are key elements that can make you stand out and help you find the job you are searching for.
The Career Services Office offers various services for graduates engaged in job searching:
Students may utilize interviewing skill packets and/or attend workshops and participate in mock interviews with immediate feedback and helpful hints.
We regularly update our placement database. Graduates are matched based on the position(s) criteria.
Our office works with employers to schedule on-campus interviews upon request. We act as the liaison between employers and graduates.
Career fairs offer on-campus forums to gather information, network, and meet employers from a variety of sectors.
Workshops are held throughout the year that range in topics including pre/post interviewing tips, building your portfolio, job seeking skills and more. Workshop dates are posted on the Career Services bulletin board and on the school calendar.
