Advising, Tutoring and Counseling

Financial Advisement

All forms of financial advisement are referred to the Financial Aid Department. Contact the Financial Aid Office for any question regarding your financial status or for financial advisement.

Career Services Advisement

Advisement in the areas of resume writing, interviewing skills, job leads, job seeking skills, and other forms of career based advisement are referred to the Placement Office. Contact the Placement Office for more information.

Conflict Resolution

Conflicts arising between students and instructors or fellow students should be directed to the Student Services Office. Student Services will work with students to resolve any disputes. If students do not feel that the Student Services Office has not adequately dealt with conflict then students may write a written letter stating the issue and addressed to the Director of the School.

Tutoring

Tutoring is arranged every module for students who feel they need help with their academics and is free of charge. Students may be advised to seek tutoring if their instructor identifies them as needing help with the course material. Tutoring is usually conducted by the instructors themselves or by a qualified person.

If you feel you may need tutoring or want to attend a tutoring session, contact the Student Services Office. Tutoring sessions are usually conducted on Fridays and times vary depending on the course. You must sign up to attend a tutoring session by Thursday at 5pm to attend the tutoring session conducted the following day.

Electrician Students: Tutoring for Electrical Code A, Electrical Code B, and Blueprint classes are administered by the instructors directly. For Student in those courses who wish to attend a tutoring session, speak with your instructor directly to set up a time for tutoring. There is no need to notify the Student Services Office for tutoring sessions in the Electrical Code A, B and Blueprint courses.

Counseling Services

In regards to life skills and coping skills, the school counselor handles advisement. Should the student require experience beyond his capabilities; the student can be referred to professional agencies in the local area. The Student Services Office maintains an open door and privacy policy for all students requesting advisement pertaining to their personal lives. If you feel you may need or would like to speak to the school counselor, contact the Student Services Office to arrange a time to speak to the counselor.
