About Scheduling

One of the services that SCIT offers to its students is class scheduling. All the courses the student will need to take are scheduled from the time they enroll in the program. The benefit of scheduling all the courses for you, the student, includes:

• Knowing which classes you will be taking throughout your time attending SCIT and when you will be taking them. This allows you to be able to adjust your future personal and work schedules appropriately so that you can attend all your courses.
• Not having to take the time to schedule your own classes and worry about course availability, prerequisites and meeting Satisfactory Progress requirements.
• Having your courses scheduled so that you can finish the program of your choice in the time you want.

Changing Schedules

Students may want or need to change their schedules for many reasons, some including:

1. Going on a Leave of Absence (LOA) for -
   • Personal reasons
   • Wanting a break from school
   • Unexpected circumstances
   • Work related reasons
2. Withdrawing from a course because of -
   • Academic reasons
   • Conflicts with the Instructor
   • Attendance problems
   • Unexpected circumstances
   • Personal Reasons
3. Wanting to change their program or major
4. Wanting to change from AM to PM courses or visa versa
5. Other reasonsW

Students need to consider the consequences if they want to change their schedules. Depending on how the student wants to change their schedule, changing a students schedule could result in -

• Delaying the program completion date; and
• Possibility of needing to take certain modules off due to lack of course availability; and
• Changes to financial status with the financial aid office or the possibility of cost changes to the program depending on the circumstances.

If students wish to change their schedule for any reason, they must contact the Student Services Office.

Scheduling FAQ

What can I do if I have questions regarding my schedule or would like to view my future course schedules?

If students have question regarding their schedules or would like to view their schedule they can either contact the Admission Office or the Student Services Office. The Admissions Office is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and the Student Services Office is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

If I want to change my schedule what do I have to do?

Contact the Student Services Office.

Can I choose which classes I want to take?

In general, we do not allow students to create their own course schedules. The reason for this is that there are very few scheduling options available if students want to complete their program in the time they want depending on course availability, course prerequisites, and program completion time requirements set for by the Satisfactory Progress requirements. In certain circumstance, students may be presented with different scheduling options. However, we strongly recommend that you let us schedule your classes for you.
