B.S. BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

Program Overview

The Biomedical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree is a rigorous, heavily lab-oriented engineering program aiming to develop practical engineering knowledge and skillsets for graduates seeking broad opportunities for professional growth or advancement in forward looking industries within the biomedical engineering space. Through a hands-on integrated approach, students learn about electronic circuitry, engineering software applications, biomedical imaging, biomedical instrumentation, DSP, robotic systems and more to understand how to identify and solve complex engineering problems found within the healthcare industry. Designed in conjunction with the Biomedical Technology program so that students are job-ready early to support a “work while you study” schedule, allowing students to acquire working knowledge of the field as they pursue a degree.

This program is a strong choice if:

  • You want to learn the practical knowledge required to solve complex engineering problems
  • You want to work in a growing, evolving field
  • You want to improve and support healthcare
  • You want to learn and develop the skill sets required to apply the engineering design process to produce solutions that meet specific needs
  • You want to establish new career paths or advance current ones
  • You want to build a portfolio of industry-related project experience, including a senior capstone project of your choosing, that can hlep you when seeking a job

Courses are offered in 5-week modules scheduled continuously throughout the year, allowing a student to complete a bachelor’s degree in less than three years. Courses are scheduled during evening hours with start times ranging anywhere between 5pm and 9pm, with most courses starting around 6pm. Most modules have a Monday-Thursday schedule with a couple requiring a Friday schedule as well. For details and start dates, please contact the Admissions Office or request for information.

The B.S.B.E. program is offered in the following formats:

BLENDED (PART-CAMPUS/PART-ONLINE)
Some courses are offered on-campus (in-person) whereas others are offered online. Courses containing substantial hands-on labs are generally those offered on-campus utilizing SCIT’s instructional lab facilities.

ONLINE
All courses are taken fully online with trainers utilized for labs completed at home.

B.S.B.E. Curriculum

The B.S.B.E. program’s curriculum is designed to support a hands-on based learning experience that develops practical engineering skills and reinforces theory. To support our curriculum, SCIT heavily invests in expansive instructional laboratories and trainers equipped with wide-ranging, real-world industrial devices spanning various engineering disciplines.
