IT Certification Courses

Courses within the Information Technology program concentrate on the 3 major parts of computer networks; the client, the server, and the devices that connect them together. Each part depends on the other for a network to function. The courses include a significant amount of hands-on lab work in SCIT's Computer Networking Lab with real equipment so that students receive solid training to configure and administer each of the components, as well as, troubleshoot devices and software that do not always work as planned.

  • Microsoft Windows & Client Computers
  • Computer Networking
  • Cisco Switches & Wireless
  • Cisco Routers & Firewalls
  • Windows Server

Microsoft Windows & Client Computers

The Windows & Hardware course introduces students to hardware components of PC's and configuration of Windows clients for a networked environment such as BranchCache and HomeGroup networking. Computer hardware classes emphasize data management, protection and recovery. The course includes topics from the CompTIA A+ and Microsoft 70-680 certifications*.

Topics

  • PC Hardware: Processor, Memory, HD, etc.
  • Installation & Network Deployment of Windows
  • Administering Windows
  • Securing Windows

* Microsoft regularly releases new certification exams and titles. Please contact the admissions office to learn about the current certifications covered in SCITs IT courses.
